Update - sortof

Usually I can update every month but this month is different.

That is because earlier this week we had to bury a dear friend of us. His unexpected death is a massive blow to our circle of friends. Our heart is broken and we miss him terribly.

Mourning about someone so close to you is a strange thing. Every day I come home with a terrible headache and sometimes I cannot find the most simplest of words. Silly things like playing Tetris on my mobile is impossible. I also haven't been able to lift my needle yet. For my boyfriend the pain is even so much worse, it was one of his best friends. It is really hard to give this loss a place.

We know our friend is at a better place now and we are happy for him. We are incredibly sad but have to find a way to move on. Celebrating Christmas is so weird, almost "alien" to us. I still have to decorate! I am going to try though. I have taken a few days off till after New Year. I hope I'll find the love for cross stitching again. I know I will. It might take some time.

So, my wish or advice or whatever you want to call it: please hug your family and friends. All the material things of this world are not important. Really, there is no need to have a big house, a nice car, vacations abroad or lots of Christmas gifts. The most important things are health, family and friends. Have a merry Christmas. Remember what Christmas is about: not Santa but the birth of a little Child who brought hope to the world.

Merry Christmas to all of you and may 2012 bring good things!

With love, Liesbeth

November update

I really should try to update biweekly or something, this blog feels so empty to me! Well here it is, another page finished and halfway done with the next page! The dragon is almost done. Since I made the photo (yesterday morning) I have finished the carriage. From the original picture it looked like a rich green tone but in real life it is more blue. Now onto the jewelled ornament thingie!

Just another update!

It has been a while since I posted a new update. This picture was taken four days ago.

Another update!

A month has passed, time for another update! I finished another page yesterday, this one went really fast. It was so much fun to finally see a little dragon!!

Ik ben weer terug! / I'm back!

After two wonderful weeks in the south of France I'm back! The weather was much better compared to The Netherlands, only 4 days had rain or clouds. To my big surprise I cross stitched quite a lot! I thought I would read in stead of cross stitching, but my books were closed for the entire holiday! I stitched for an hour almost every morning, this is the result:

Away

It has been a while since the last update, but I promise I have been busy!! I stitched quite a lot. Tomorrow we leave for a holiday. Train of Dreams will accompany me and I hope to stitch some more. Today I was too busy packing so I didn't take a picture. It will have to wait till after the holiday!

Update

Time for a new picture, the first column of pages is done! It is truly a joy to stitch, the colors are fantastic. I also love to see new shapes appear.
The new page stitches pretty fast, I am so glad there is little confetti stitching!!

Druk

It has been a long time since I gave my last update. My boyfriend developed a nasty rash which caused me to to loads of daily laundry and no help for the rest of the house work. Thankfully the rash and itching is going away, after two weeks I am so happy for him! I cannot wait to give him a hug soon, we were afraid it was something contagious so we couldn't touch.

On the positive side: I did get quite a bit stitching done! I finished the first page and am 3/4 on the second page. I work from top till bottom.

I used to do the confetti stitching at the end, but I have learned it is actually much faster to fill in the gaps right away.

I had no time to take a picture, I will take one as soon as I have finished my first pages top to bottom!

Eerste update / First update

Hier is mijn eerste update!

Here's my first update! I really like stitching this. The fabric is 18 ct grey aida and I'm stitching with two strands.

Using a fabric pen for gridding works fast, but I'm not a fan of this pen. The tip is too wide. I've ordered Sulky Metallic and will use that for gridding.

I'm stitching in the evening and in the weekend. My boyfriend isn't too happy about that so I'll have to find a way to make him happy and still stitch some!

Verzonden! Sent!

What a surprise when I opened my e-mailbox! A message from the store was waiting for me with the lovely news that my order has been send yesterday! That means that if I'm luck, I'll have the fabric this afternoon!! Hurray!!! I'm looking forward to an afternoon of preparing the fabric and putting threads on my new bobbins.
Talk to you later!

It's unbelievable, the fabric still isn't delivered! I feel really bummed about it, I hoped the manufacturer would deliver quick to the store. But no. The store promised to inform for me. Because I ordered the bobbins at the same time they are still not in as well so I can't even put my threads on them!

So that's the reason why I didn't update for a while.

Friday 28 January 2011

look at the pretty colours!!!

Look, look, the threads are in! Aren't they pretty?

I had to order about 60 colours, the rest I found in my stash.
I have to wait a little before I can work with them. I don't have any bobbins left and the fabric still isn't in! The store I ordered kindly updated me, they do not have it in stock right now but they will send it out next week. It's probably a good thing though LOL I spent the last few days tidying up the house. Housekeeping is not something I like and when I have something nice waiting for me (like cross stitching) I have a hard time to keep my house tidy every night.

This little kitty also really liked the floss. I'm sure she's thinking of a way to steal these pretties LOL and acting like she really doesn't care:

I am just so excited, I cannot wait for the fabric to come in. I think it's a repeating sentence on this blog LOL.

Untill next time!

Stof besteld

Zoals beloofd / As promised

Zoals beloofd een update van EMS Flower of the Month.
As promised I give you an update of my project by EMS: Flower of the Month.

First an overview. When I've finished this I will make a better picture.

En natuurlijk een close-up:
And ofcourse a close-up:

I think I have to practise with taking pictures, the colors look a bit off.

Verandering / Change

The ordinary templates of Blogger are ok, but when I saw the digital backgrounds and headers made by my favorite brand of scrapbook paper I changed it inmediately!

Last week the frame I ordered came in and I'm very pleased with it! Now I can cross stitch at the table but also sitting on the coach. I've already learned to cross stitch with two hands (left hand on top, right hand under).
I'm still busy working on the last Flower of the Month by EMS. I hope to finish it next week! Above you can find a picture of my progress, made on Tuesday.

2011

We're a couple of days into 2011, I hope it will be a good year for everyone!

I had a week off and spent a couple of days with my family and my cat in Limburg. There was a lot of snow and we had so much fun. I brought my cross stitching with me and got quite far! Right now the oliebollen (it's a typical Dutch New Year's eve snack, fried dow balls filled with raisins, pieces of apple and covered in powdered snow) are all eaten and my little vacation is over. Today was my first day back at work.

Today I also ordered myself a frame and fabric marker at Naald en Draad. I've never worked with a frame before so I really want to know what it's like! It's probably the reason why I choose to buy a super frame, the price and size were very appealing to me. This frame also makes sure I have both horizontal and vertical tension, scroll frames don't.

I hope I can share a picture of my cross stitching soon. By the time I get home from work the light is pretty much gone and my pictures turn blah. I'll try to take a picture this weekend!
